Picture 1: Getting ready in the morning, side road, back of the truck, long before sunrise. Once we turn off the lanterns and turn on our headlamps, everything goes black and green, and it means we’re off to the stand. I love that moment.
Pictures 2, 3, 4, and 5: Views from the stands. My bow ready to go. Steve and I chatting (whispering). Me in the tree. And the deer. These are again the two fawns I talked about here. Their mama had already wandered away and the other large doe with them made a wide berth around our area. The young buck and two does were there a while before this. What a morning!
Pictures 6 and 7: My strong outdoorsman and me.
Picture 8: After we climbed down around 10 (early), we spent a few hours working. We moved a couple of cameras and then, while I carried gear and water, Steve cleared a path up the hilltop. We have a double treestand set up there that we want to sit this Saturday and we never cleared the route before season started. But if we don’t clear it, we can’t get to it quietly in the dark, so it had to be done. The work never ends!
